On the occasion of the 2023 International Youth Day (IYD), President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for Nigerian youths.
In an official statement endorsed by the President’s Special Adviser
for Media & Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, he emphasized that youth empowerment is a fundamental pillar of all reform actions being implemented across sectors, aiming to create an environment where Nigerian youths can thrive and contribute to the nation’s growth and development.
President Tinubu acknowledged the increasing interest and impact of many young Nigerians in technology-related fields worldwide.
He pledged to fulfill his campaign promise of generating one million new jobs in the digital economy for their upliftment and national economic development. He noted that he remains steadfast in his focus on delivery, believing in the principle, “to whom much is given, much is expected.”
As advocates of change, President Tinubu encouraged the youth to lead national progress, unity, and collective prosperity for all citizens of the country.
In alignment with this year’s event theme, “Green Skills for Youth: Towards a Sustainable World,” he urged young Nigerians to take the lead in achieving the highest quality of sustainable development. This vision corresponds with his agenda of expanding green job opportunities and promoting renewable energy solutions as a key part of Nigeria’s energy mix.
During this International Youth Day celebration, the President assured the younger generation that his administration would consistently engage with and listen to them, aiming to implement their important and forward-looking feedback.
He highlighted examples such as The Student Loan Act and the provision of buses to Student Bodies of various educational institutions as tangible evidence of his administration’s responsiveness.
