Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu, has conveyed his sorrow regarding the tragic incident of a helicopter crash in Central Nigeria’s Niger State on Monday, which resulted in the loss of several military officers.
The incident took place in Chukuba village near Shiroro, claiming the lives of both officers and men involved in the crash.
The President noted that the officers and men were responding to their duty’s call during an evacuation mission, yet tragically sacrificed their lives in unwavering dedication to their cherished nation.
“While we mourn their untimely departure, we will forever remember them, not just as servicemen, but as heroes who gave their all for the peace and security of our country.
“They will always be remembered as courageous men who ensured that their fellow countrymen and women live in peace,’’ the president said.
In his tribute, Tinubu also extended his condolences to the families of the deceased and expressed sympathy to the Armed Forces for the profound and painful loss.
“We salute their sacrifice, devotion and loyalty to our dear nation – the nation they loved and served to the end.
“On behalf of a grateful nation, I extend my condolences to their families, the Chief of Defence Staff, the Chief of Air Staff, the Chief of Army Staff, the Chief of Naval Staff, and the entire Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“May God grant them eternal rest,” he said.
