Popular Nollywood actress, Iyabo Ojo, expressed solidarity for Farida Abdulkabir, also known as Farida Sobowale, a Lagos socialite who recently attempted suicide by trying to jump into the Lagoon.
In a video that has gone viral, passersby rescued Farida from the brink.
Farida Sobowale who has come out publicly to apologise to her children and everyone, said she took the rather drastic action because of love.
In an Instagram post, Iyabo Ojo revealed that she had spoken with Farida Sobowale before the incident but had no idea about her intentions.
Sending words of encouragement to Farida Sobowale, Iyabo Ojo said; “my love, this will definitely pass, the sun will shine again, your tomorrow will be better than your today, but for now just breathe, i love you so much, please stay strong…. I’m praying for you.”

Farida, had a lavish wedding of N100 million naira but got separated from her husband after two months. It was also revealed her husband had left with another woman and is a wanted fraudster.
Farida Sobowale acknowledged her regrets and the warnings she had received before her marriage. She cited her unwavering love for her ex-husband as the driving force behind her decisions.
She said: “Friends and families warned me not to go into the marriage. They told me that the man only wanted my money but I was recalcitrant.
“It was love that pushed me into this. He told me that he was going to be with me, make me have children for him.
“I am so sorry for putting my children in such a position. I would not have forgiven myself if I had abandoned them after committing suicide.”
After the failed suicide attempt, she expressed forgiveness towards her ex-husband and the hope for him to find a new wife.
“I have forgiven my ex-husband. May God provide him with another wife,” Farida added.
The public feud between the estranged couple on social media likely contributed to Farida’s attempt, which was thwarted by concerned onlookers.
