A multi-story building collapse in Abuja’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has tragically resulted in an unspecified loss of lives.

Based on the gathered report, it has been revealed that the incident took place during the night on Wednesday, presumably due to a substantial amount of rainfall. The affected structure is situated on the bustling Lagos Street within the Garki village, specifically in the Garki II district of Abuja.

The available information regarding this incident is currently limited and lacks comprehensive details, as of the time of the press release. However, Ikharo Attah, who was previously a close assistant to the former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, corroborated this development in a post shared on his Facebook page. He affirmed that efforts to rescue individuals from the affected building are currently in progress.

In the meantime, the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) has arrived at the site of the incident to address and manage the situation. Federal Road Safety Corps and FCT Police Command has also joined FEMA on the search to rescue and evacuate more victims.

Speaking at the accident scene, Dr Abbas Idris, Director General of FEMA told newsmen that more people are being rescued but the team are slow because of the heavy downpour.
