School condoles with family, calls for calm among students

A tragic incident has occurred at the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) as a female student from the institution, Modupe Deborah Ayanda, was discovered deceased.

The University’s administration had previously released a statement on September 6, 2023, concerning the reported disappearance of Modupe Deborah Ayanda.

In the official statement signed by the Registrar, Mr. Mufutau A. Ibrahim, titled “Press Release on Current Occurrence in the University,” the university management expressed its deep concern about the situation and urged all stakeholders to remain calm while investigations are ongoing.

The statement revealed that immediate steps have been taken to address the matter, including the deployment of National Security Personnel to handle the situation. Furthermore, several suspects connected to the incident have been apprehended.

As a precautionary measure, the university directed all students, including Stream A and other full-time students on its campuses, to vacate the premises immediately. This evacuation is intended to facilitate a thorough and unimpeded investigation.

Armed security personnel were swiftly deployed for patrol, surveillance, and enhanced security across the university’s campuses.

The university management assured the public that it will leave no stone unturned in identifying and bringing to justice all individuals responsible for any wrongdoing. They will face the full consequences of their actions.

“A new resumption date for all students will be communicated in due course, and the university sincerely regrets any inconveniences caused by these developments.

“The Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of its students and staff during this challenging time.” the statement reads.

In a shocking turn of events, Ayanda’s remains were uncovered, sparking allegations of her abduction, assault, and subsequent burial near the faculty building.

The management of FUOYE announced her tragic demise via a press release issued and signed by the University’s Registrar, Mufutau Ibrahim.

The university reported the heartbreaking news as follows:  “It will be recalled that earlier today, the Management had made public the disturbing development of the missing of the deceased and assured that investigation was ongoing as to unravel the whereabouts of the poor students.

But current information reaching the security outfit of the University has disclosed that the said student is dead.

While the University Management condoles with the deceased family and the generality of the University community, particularly our dear students, the Management reiterated that investigation is still ongoing and this is being done in collaboration with national security agencies with a view to getting to the root of the sad development and bringing to book the culprits.
