VP Shettima Spotlights Tinubu’s Dedication to Nigerian Welfare at Sokoto Palliative Distribution Event

Sokoto – In a recent address during the flag-off ceremony for the distribution of N5.1 billion worth of palliatives by the Sokoto State Government, Vice President Sen. Kashim Shettima reiterated President Bola Tinubu’s unwavering dedication to the well-being of Nigerians through government programs and policies.

Speaking at the event, Vice President Shettima praised President Tinubu as a compassionate leader who constantly strives to alleviate the hardships faced by Nigerians, particularly the vulnerable members of society. He announced that President Tinubu is committed to introducing comprehensive initiatives aimed at enhancing the living conditions of citizens across the nation.

Vice President Shettima commended the Sokoto State Government for its laudable palliative distribution efforts, stating that it serves as a commendable model for other state governments to emulate. He further expressed the Federal Government’s appreciation for the support provided by the State Government to security agencies, emphasizing the importance of peace and security in fostering development.

Additionally, the Vice President acknowledged BUA Group, a local cement production company, for its generous donation of 10 patrol vehicles to security agencies and urged other private organizations in the state to follow suit in supporting security agencies.

During the event, Vice President Shettima inaugurated the N5.3 billion Rijiyar Doruwa flyover, a significant infrastructure project undertaken by the Sokoto State Government.

Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, highlighted the purpose of the palliative distribution as addressing the needs of the less fortunate in the state. He also emphasized the State’s commitment to supporting security agencies to combat prevailing security challenges.

Governor Aliyu disclosed that N5.1 billion was allocated to procure grains, which would be distributed free of charge to residents irrespective of their religious or political affiliations.

Furthermore, the event witnessed the unveiling of a transportation scheme by the State Government. This initiative comprises the provision of 20 Toyota Camry cars exclusively for women’s use and 50 mass transit buses for affordable inter-city transportation services.

Distinguished personalities present at the occasion included former Governor of Sokoto, Senator Aliyu Wamakko; Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari, and Minister of State for Water Resources and Sanitation, Bello Goronyo, among others.
