The late Nigerian artiste, Ilerioluwa Aloba, better known as Mohbad, has finally been laid to rest amidst a backdrop of controversy regarding his burial location.
The Ikorodu youths, initially opposed to the proposed burial site, ultimately came to an agreement with the artist’s family, allowing them to bid their final farewell in a more suitable location.
Mohbad, known for his rising prominence in the Nigerian music industry, tragically passed away on September 12, 2023, sending shockwaves through his fans and the community of Ikorodu, where he last performed.
Initially, tensions flared when the proposed burial site, characterized by overgrown vegetation, was met with stern rejection from the Ikorodu youths.
They united in their determination to honor their hero in a manner they deemed befitting.
In an online video, an unidentified youth representative was heard passionately stating in Yoruba, “Mohbad cannot be buried here. He deserves better.”
However, after intense negotiations between local leaders and Mohbad’s family, a compromise was reached. The late artist has now been laid to rest.
While the community mourns the loss of one of its brightest talents, another storm brews on the horizon.
Meanwhile, all seems not to be well between Mohbad’s family and his baby mama, Wunmi. The family is reportedly threatening to seize all his assets and his five-month-old son from his wife, Wunmi.
The late artist’s family’s alleged actions will undoubtedly intensify the grieving process for the 24-year-old mother who has been rendered a widow.
