John Oboh, affectionately known as ‘Mighty Mouse,’ the iconic music producer credited with pioneering the famous Ajegunle rhythm in the 90s, has tragically passed away.
Mighty Mouse’s untimely demise occurred today, September 18, in Lagos, following a prolonged battle with a suspected cancer-related illness. A close source within the family has confirmed this sorrowful news to the press.
Despite efforts to reach Mighty Mouse’s sister, Mabel Oboh, for a statement, no contact has been established at this time.
John Oboh, also known as Mighty Mouse, was part of a prominent family, being one of ten children. His siblings include Mabel Oboh, who serves as the National Publicity Secretary for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Peter Oboh, a former British and Commonwealth Light Heavyweight boxing champion, and Chief Josephine Oboh-Macleod, a renowned art collector, curator, and philanthropist.
Mighty Mouse’s lasting legacy in the world of music is undeniable. He is celebrated as the music godfather of Ajegunle City, having created the distinctive and widely recognized genre of Galala music, which has left an indelible mark on Nigeria’s musical landscape.
