Ondo State: In a video that came to light over the weekend, shockwaves reverberated through both the media landscape and the community of Arigidi in Akoko Northwest, Ondo State. The video depicts a brutal assault on Hon. (Dr) Adebunmi Osadahun, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development.
As per reports, this incident arose from the distribution of subsidy palliatives, which was carried out in compliance with a directive issued by the Ondo State Government. Consequently, the video has sparked a contentious debate.

The assailant in question has been identified as Mr. Awolumate Olumide, Chairman of APC Ward 1 (one). Eyewitnesses report that Mr. Olumide launched a vicious assault on Hon. Adebunmi Osadahun during the palliative distribution event.
Leaders and community members are uniting in their condemnation of this attack, emphasizing that violence against women should not be tolerated under any circumstances. They underscore the crucial and sensitive roles that women play in society, highlighting the need for their protection and support.
This sentiment was echoed by Hon. Princess Oluwatosin O. Ajirotutu, Deputy Majority Leader of the Ondo State House of Assembly, in a statement expressing her concern and solidarity with the victim, Hon. Adebunmi Osadahun, and demanding swift justice in this matter.
In response to this incident, Ajirotutu demands for Mr. Awolumate Olumide’s immediate arrest and subsequent disciplinary action by the Ondo State Commissioner of Police. Furthermore, she urged the Attorney General of Ondo State to expedite legal proceedings against him.
“The action of Mr. Awolumate Olumide on Hon. Adebunmi Osadahun is condemned and he should be arrested and made to face maximum disciplinary sanction by the Ondo State Commissioner of Police while the Attorney General of Ondo State should prosecute Mr. Olumide immediately.”
Public outrage over this barbaric act has been swift and widespread. Calls for justice and accountability are echoing in the region.

It is displeasing and barbaric to have viewed a video clip that surfaced and has caused pandemonium in the media space and Arigidi in Akoko Northwest of Ondo State following the directive of Ondo State Government on subsidy palliatives distribution across the state.
It was gathered that, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. (Dr) Adebunmi Osadahun who hailed from this area was brutally attacked and assault was made by APC Ward 1 (one) Chairman, Mr. Awolumate Olumide during the palliative distribution in Arigidi of Akoko Northwest Local Government.
The action of Mr. Awolumate Olumide on Hon. Adebunmi Osadahun is condemned and he should be arrested and made to face maximum disciplinary sanction by the Ondo State Commissioner of Police while the Attorney General of Ondo State should prosecute Mr. Olumide immediately.
Assault on womenfolk should not be tolerated in any part of Ondo State and in the country. Women deserve our caring in every situation because of their sensitive roles in the society.
