The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, otherwise known as fire service, swiftly responded to a fire emergency at Victory Bay, Ikota Housing Estate, Ajah, Lagos, rescuing two adult males from the perilous flames. Eyewitnesses reported that the incident unfolded around 3:30 am, causing confusion in the community.
Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Mrs. Margaret Adeseye, officially confirmed the rescue operation. She reassured the public that the situation was brought under control, and as of 9:00 am, the fire had been successfully extinguished.
Mrs. Adeseye emphasized the dedication and professionalism of her team, highlighting their swift response that averted a potential disaster.
According to Adeseye,
“Emergency alert was received at 04:10 hours, Tuesday. The incident involved a shanty storey building consisting of four rooms on each floor within the precinct of the estate.
“On arrival of the Lekki Phase II Fire crew of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, the victims were rescued alive with varying degrees of burns with the support of community members.”
Following the rescue operation, the victims received immediate medical attention from the Lagos State Ambulance Service before being transported to the hospital for further treatment.
