Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has entered a period of mourning following the untimely passing of popular Afrobeats singer Mohbad. The governor has made a significant move by extending an invitation to the Department of State Services (DSS) to actively participate in the ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the singer’s tragic demise.
Mohbad, known by his real name, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Imole Aloba, breathed his last just last week and has since been laid to rest. In the wake of his passing, local law enforcement initiated an inquiry into the incident. However, as public interest and demand for a thorough investigation continue to mount, Governor Sanwo-Olu has taken this decisive step, seeking the involvement of the secret police in the ongoing probe.

“I would like to assure everyone that I am not oblivious to the sad passing of Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Imole Aloba (Mohbad). We have been closely working behind the scenes with relevant authorities, and keenly following the ongoing investigations,” he wrote on his X handle Tuesday.
“However, in order to boost the investigations, I have invited the Department of State Services (DSS) to join the investigation and widen the dragnet with inter-agency collaboration and use of best-in-class technology to unearth the truth.
“I have instructed that all those who may have played any role whatsoever in any event leading to the death of MohBad be made to face the law after a thorough investigation.”
He, is, however, pleading with those who have information that may assist the probe to do so.
“I have also appealed to the investigating team to guarantee the confidentiality and protection of all witnesses who may come forward with vital information or indicative evidence that may assist the process. The Police and the DSS have promised to brief the public on their efforts periodically,” Governor Sanwo-Olu added.
The Lagos State Governor is also urging the friends and fans of the departed star to avoid making incendiary remarks while the investigation is ongoing.

“Staying calm and following the process will be our most solemn tribute to the memory of the departed talent,” he said.
“I hereby commiserate with the family, friends, colleagues, and fans all over the world on Imole’s sad demise. I wish everyone love and light, and may his soul rest in peace. Amen.”
Meanwhile in the Panseke area of Abeokuta, a group of young people has taken to the streets to call for justice following the recent passing of the well-known musician, Ilerioluwa Aloba, also recognized as Mhobad, who tragically passed away last Tuesday.
These impassioned youths assembled at the skating ground arena in Abeokuta, dressed in black attire, and brandishing placards bearing messages like #JusticeForMohbad and #WhooffLight, among others.
