The Ondo State House of Assembly has taken decisive action by directing the Clerk of the House, Jaiyeola Benjamin, to write to Deputy Governor Lucky Ayedatiwa regarding allegations of gross misconduct.
This move comes after a petition, endorsed by nine out of the 26 members of the House, was presented during today’s plenary session, presided over by Speaker Olamide Oladiji.
The Majority leader of the House invoked Section 188 of the Nigerian Constitution to justify the necessity of addressing the allegations against the Deputy Governor. This argument was seconded by Tope Agbulu, a lawmaker representing Akoko South West 2.

Following a unanimous vote by the lawmakers, Speaker Oladiji ruled that a formal letter should be sent to the Deputy Governor, notifying him of the allegations.
The Clerk of the House subsequently read the notice of motion.
In other legislative matters, a proposed law aimed at amending the Ondo State Law Commission, 2006, in order to change the tenure of commission members to a part-time office, successfully passed its second reading and has been referred to the House Committee on Judiciary for further consideration.
