Mohbad’s corpse: The Lagos State Police Command, in collaboration with health officials, has successfully carried out the exhumation of the late singer and songwriter Ilerioluwa Aloba, widely known as Mohbad. The 27-year-old artist tragically passed away on September 12, 2023, and was laid to rest in Ikorodu, Lagos State, the following day.
The untimely demise of the beloved musician has ignited a wave of reactions across Nigeria, with many Nigerians pointing fingers at his former boss, Naira Marley, and music promoter, Sam Larry, alleging their involvement in his death. This public outcry has led to calls for justice, and citizens have taken to the streets in Lagos, Ogun, and other parts of the country, urging the police to identify and apprehend those responsible for Mohbad’s death.

Responding to the mounting pressure, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun ordered a thorough forensic investigation to uncover the true cause of Mohbad’s passing. In compliance with the IGP’s directive, the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Idowu Owohunwa, assembled a ten-member team, including a pathologist, tasked with exhuming and investigating the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death.
Commissioner Owohunwa, personally leading the investigative team to the burial site, is also scheduled to visit Mohbad’s father at his residence in Ikorodu.
Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, has officially confirmed the exhumation of Mohbad’s remains during a phone conversation with newsmen.
