The Plateau Election Petition Trial Tribunal, the election of Caleb Mannanseh Mutfwang, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as the Governor of Plateau State has been affirmed. The tribunal handed down its verdict, dismissing the petition filed by Dr. Nentawe Yilwada Goshwe, a candidate from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Dr. Goshwe had approached the tribunal, contesting the declaration of Caleb Mannanseh Mutfwang as the Governor of Plateau State by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
His petition alleged that at the time of the election, Mutfwang was not qualified to contest, as he had not been validly nominated and sponsored by the PDP, which Goshwe claimed had no organizational structure at the time.
However, in its judgment delivered on Friday, the Tribunal deemed the petition to lack merit, effectively upholding the election of Caleb Mannanseh Mutfwang as the Governor of Plateau State.
