This morning in Akure, the capital of Ondo State, a sense of tension gripped the area as a peculiar offering, adorned with bird charms, was discovered at the entrance of the State Speaker’s residence.
According to reports, local residents speculated that this ritualistic object might be linked to the recent attempt to impeach the State Deputy Governor, Hon Lucky Aiyedatiwa. Although no arrests have been made in connection with this incident, it has caused considerable apprehension and uncertainty among the affected individuals.
On the preceding last Wednesday, lawmakers from Ondo State commenced impeachment proceedings against Deputy Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, despite their earlier denials of such intentions.
Aiyedatiwa had vehemently declared just the week before that he had no intention of stepping down from his position within Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu’s administration, urging legislators to dismiss any rumors about his resignation.
Tensions between Aiyedatiwa and Governor Akeredolu heightened shortly after the Governor left for Ibadan to recuperate before embarking on a three-month medical leave. It is suggested that during this time, the Deputy Governor started to garner support from certain cabinet members, potentially in preparation for a situation where the Governor might not return.
