Following the demise of Senator Bayo Osinowo fondly called Pepperito  which left the Lagos East Senatorial seat vacant in the red chamber. Lots of politicians from the zone are warming up to participate in the forthcoming bye election that will produce a successor to the late senator.  Barr. Aare  Oladotun Hassan, a legal practitioner and National President of Yoruba Council of Youth, has indicated interest to run for the vacant seat under the umbrella of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). The Lagos East Senatorial seat was left vacant following the death of its former Senator, Late Bayo Osinowo who died in the early hours of Monday 15th June 2020, at a private facility in Lagos, after a brief illness.

The technocrat spelled out his vision and legislative program in his manifesto recently released to the press after his condolence visit to the demised family.

“Firstly, it is most important to note that the Lagos East senatorial district deserves a well experienced and passionately committed representative at the 9th Assembly to complete the term of Late Senator Bayo Oshinowo. While aggressively proffering fundamental solutions to the hydra-challenges bedeviling the progress and the development of the good people of Ibeju Lekki, Epe, Ikorodu, Kosofe and Somolu local government areas of the stat, all within the Lagos East senatorial district.”

Aare Oladotun promised in his manifesto, that he would create what he called “a mutually agreed feedback interface platform” to ensure regular discussion on fundamental growth within the five local government of the senatorial district.

“In view of the five local government areas that make up the Lagos East Senatorial District, I shall devised a mutually agreed feedback interface platform with the good people of Lagos East via the establishment of Five Senatorial District Offices with One appointed Representative for each local government area, in which the regular discuss on fundamentals and way forward shall be mutually agreed upon, with the hosting of a quarterly meeting to be held simultaneously within the Lagos East Senatorial District. We shall optimally explore the social media vantage too as well.” He added.

The legal practitioner also revealed some of the legislative bill he intended to sponsor within his first 100 days of election into the office.

Some of the bills are as follows:

“Lekki Development Commission Bill: the rural communities within each part of Eti-Osa linking Ibeju-Lekki towards Epe, Ketu via Ikorodu shall be benefiting immensely from the Federal government intervention programs with the emergence of the LDC, while a certain derivatives and budgeted reversionary funds from Federation Account of not less than 15% and lots of jobs opportunities vis-à-vis women and youths empowerment schemes and many more shall be to the greatest benefit of the host communities within the senatorial district, as we are preparing to joining the oil producing States/ community soon, with the advent of Dangote refinery and other multiple growing opportunities.”

“Establishment Bill on Federal University of Agriculture, Ketu- Ikorodu, Lagos”

“Establishment Bill on Federal University of Aviation, Epe.”

” Bill on Federal College of Technical Training and Research, Ibeju Lekki, Lagos.”

“National Youth Development Commission Bill”

“National Plebiscite and Referendum Commission Bill”

“National Restructuring Affairs Commission Bill”

“National Education Right Bill”

“National Transport Fare and Parks Management Authority Bill”

“National (Regional) Development Commission Bill”

“This and many more are my immediate plans to rescue the good people of Lagos East Senatorial District few months after the Bye-Election 2020.”
